VOLUNTEER ROLES

STADIUM SET UP/TAKE DOWN

Stationed outside; a fair amount of lifting and physical work.

STADIUM FEED ZONE/FINISH

Stationed outside; you will help athletes off with their bibs, give them warm gatorade, offer them a cookie, collect transponders, deliver laundry baskets of bibs to the race office, etc.

Course set up and take down

Stationed outside; walk around the course to lay v-boards and place course whiskers in the track (where required) before the race. After the race you will need to help collect all the v-boards and whiskers.

Course control

Stationed outside; responsible for documenting bib numbers at checkpoints and documenting potential infractions. On Friday this role also supervises the relay exchange zone

START & FINISH

Stationed outside; No experience is necessary as the tasks are straightforward and the Chief of Start and Chief of Timing will provide training on site. Jobs at the start and finish can include the transponder pickup/retrieval, shepherding athletes into position for the start, recording times (and cheering for) as racers depart and arrive, helping to set and break down timing systems outside.

Chips (attaches transponders to ankles at starting line and removes transponders at finish line)

Wrangler (magically places skiers with the correct bib numbers in the correct places using a strong voice)

Starter (watches the clock and helps skiers start at the right time; if you grew up playing Super Mario Kart, this is the job for you)

Summit (you are old-school and trust paper over computers; you record bib numbers and start+finish times on a device called a summit)

MEDICAL

Stationed inside; a medical volunteer can be a physician, nurse, EMS, fire fighter, someone with valid first aid certification.

Race office helper (Stationed indoors helping with a variety of computer work, registering athletes checking in, issuing day passes, etc.).

Bib sorting (Stationed indoors)

Bib washing (You need to arrive on time with a vehicle; you are responsible for washing two laundry baskets filled with used bibs. Lunchtime bibs need to be returned within 4 hours, evening bibs need to be returned at 7am the next morning)

MEDICAL

Stationed inside; a medical volunteer can be a physician, nurse, EMS, fire fighter, someone with valid first aid certification.

PARKING ATTENDANT

Verify that vehicles parking in P4 have reason to park there; instruct others where to park.

BANQUET

The banquet is Friday night. Volunteers are required to do setup and decoration in the afternoon, collect tickets at the start, and there is also a need for 'security' throughout the banquet. Security means not allowing those without a ticket to enter (and monitoring those with tickets who exit to re-enter).

Wrap-up bbq

The BBQ is on Sunday. Volunteers are required to do setup and take-down, ticket collection, and sausage cooking.
